6 Turkish Soldiers Dead in Attacks of Kurdish Militants

At least 6 Turkish soldiers have been killed in two separate attacks of the Kurdish militants in the southeastern provinces of Hakkari and Mardin, the Irainian state-run news agency PressTV reported on June 24, citing anonymous “security sources”.

According to the report, militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) detonated a roadside bomb by remote control on Friday targeting Turkish troops that were conducting a military operation near Cimenli village in Hakkari province. The report says 4 Turkish soldiers were killed in the bomb attack.

In a separate development on June 24, two Turkish soldiers were killed in a clash with PKK militants in the Derik district of Mardin province.

On June 23, in the town of Omerli, PKK militants detonated a car bomb near a gendarme outpost. Two police officers were injured and a civilian killed.

Depiste constant casualties, the provincial authorities say that military operations against PKK militants would continue “resolutely” in the area.
