According to a statement released by the Afghan defense ministry, nearly 50 terrorists including ISIS have been killed and wounded over the past 24 hours across the country’s eastern and central regions.

It also said that the Afghan forces seized weapons and detained a number of terrorists, several Taliban militants were also among those killed during those raids.

A report released earlier this month by the Afghan Defense ministry in which it said that more than 600 civilians had been killed by ISIS terrorists over the past six months.

It was also reported by the Afghan Defense ministry that ISIS atrocities have also left some 20,000 families internally displaced over the past year.

ISIS’s stronghold is currently in the eastern province of Nangarhar bordering Pakistan.  ISIS reportedly plans to establish a base of operations within the province’s mountainous terrain.

However, on the other hand,  the Taliban control more territory than at any point since 2001. Taliban also took a provincial capital, Kunduz, and are threatening another, Lashkar Gah in Helmand.

Since the war on terror began 14 years ago by the US and its allies, Afghanistan has been crippled by insecurity and terrorism which also has been taking numerous civilian lives.
