The US and Russia have adopted “Terms for a Cessation of Hostilities in Syria” and propose that a ceasefire start on Saturday at midnight Damascus time. Terror groups, such as ISIS and Al-Nusra, are not part of the truce.
The Syrian government has accepted the terms of a ceasefire deal announced by the US and Russia, a Foreign Ministry source said, as cited by Sana news agency. But Damascus wants the fight against terrorists such as Islamic State to continue nonetheless.
The so-called “moderate rebel” groups found a gap in the U.S.-Russian plan of the ceasefire in Syria. According to them, it’s impossible to pinpoint positions held by al Nusra and the “moderate rebels” will be targeted instead of it. Thus, anybody who is fighting al Nusra is fighting the “moderate opposition”. The only logical explanation of this is the West just calls “moderate rebels” a range of terrorist-linked groups.
China welcomes the Russia-US agreement on cessation of hostilities between the Syrian government and the opposition, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Tuesday.
