2 Russian Piolts Killed as ISIS Shoots Down Mi-25 near Palmyra (Video)

Earlier, SouthFront reported that ISIS had shot down a Russian military helicopter east of Palmyra. However, the reports were denied by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Next day the Russian MoD confirmed the report:

“On July 8, Russian military pilot-instructors Evgeny Dolgin and Ryafagat Khabibulin, were conducting a calibration flight on a Syrian Mi-25 (export version of the Mi-24) helicopter loaded with ammunition in the province of Homs,” the official statement from the Ministry of Defense reads.

“The crew received a request from the Syrian command group to help defeat the advancing terrorists and fire for effect. The captain of the aircraft, Ryafagat Khabibullin, made the decision to attack.”

The MoD said that due to the crew’s actions the terrorists were thrown back.

“Having spent their ammunition, while turning back to the base, the helicopter was shot down by terrorists from the ground and crashed in an area controlled by the Syrian government. The crew did not survive,” the MoD said.

The both pilots will posthumously receive state awards.

Oh, my God. The americans will pay dearly for this! Enough! We do not need armed semi-humans, thieves, murderers. Go Russia! Give them what they have been asking for.

Russia has the worlds best technology for ejecting pilots out of fighter jets…

But NOTHING for their chopper dudes?

VGA

Some more advanced helicopters like the ka-52 have ejection seats. The rotors are exploded first so the pilots don’t get sliced of course.

Shhh

What was it that blew tail off the helicopter? If it was an infrared missile why did it not hit the engine.

Jose

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the helicopter’s third missile accidentally struck the aircraft’s tail during launch due to a technical error, causing the helicopter to plunge towards the ground.

Jose

I didn’t see any ISIS missile strike the Heli. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the helicopter’s third missile accidentally struck the aircraft’s tail during launch due to a technical error, causing the helicopter to plunge towards the ground.

Kire Stojanovski

If you watch the video carefully and pause it just before the explosion, you can notice that the missile fired by the helicopter doesn’t go to the tail, it goes just the same as the 2 previous missiles. So there must be something other to cause the explosion of the tail of the helicopter. Even though it isn’t visible on the video, it can still be some missile which doesn’t leave trace after it, or it can even be a bullet from a machine gun, possibly.

Jose

Too much coincidence that it happens almost at same time as the third missile lunch. Then, it could something dropped by the third missile after lunch that flew until the back rotor. I don’t believe and the video shows clearly, there is no fire against the heli, and the second heli didn’t show any reaction…

Shhh

Thanks. Sabouteurs in the maintenance department.

I do not see a ground missile exhaust plume trail to tail rotor of helicopter .Weird. Perhaps was a malfunction of rocket on board .

I am saddened that these selfless men passed away like this. The world needs more who stand up for what is right. And less Zionist who stand for what is so wrong.

TOW missiles don’t leave smoke trails. They said it was hit by a America made TOW missile. You don’t see much except the impact unl your not exactly behind it. Like in other TOW or Kornet Videos you see.

The desert around Palmyra is an ideal location to use the FOAB-Father of all bombs (15,000lbs) air burst weapon on ISIS. Call off the heli’s and bring in the sledge hammer.

islamic front supporter

it was most likely hit by a MANPAD

for some reason every russian soldier killed in syria gets hero of the russian federation
i guess the reason for this is that the russian public was not prepared to lose any soldiers in their government’s anti terror campaign in syria or cause the numbers are so few that putin just says “fuck this, let me just give whoever is killed a medal cause we are not gonna lose a lot of soldiers in syria ” but in chechnya almost no one was given a medal cause there were too many people killed

Looks like friendly fire from the other Mi-35M behind it. And oh yeah, it IS an Mi-35M. Shit happens during wartime.
