On May 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin is opening a 19-km bridge across the Kerch Strait, which connects mainland Russia to Crimea.

The bridge, which links Russia’s Republic of Crimea and Krasnodar Region, has a capacity of 40,000 cars per day. The vehicles section of the bridge will be open to traffic on May 16.

The railway section of the bridge is scheduled to be opened in early 2019. Its capacity is 47 pairs of trains per day.

Summing up numbers, the bridge will have the capacity of 14 million passengers and 13 million tons of cargo per year.

The project costs 228 billion rubles ($3.69 billion).

The Crimean Bridge is the longest bridge in Europe, taking over the Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal.

According to initial estimates the bridge had been expected to be fully constructed by the end of 2018 but has been completed six months ahead of the schedule.

Ukrainian leadership and experts have repeatedly criticized the project:

  • According to the initial version Russia was not capable of building such a bridge in the area.
  • Now, the Ukrainain side is claiming that the construction has damaged the environment and that larger ships will be unable to get through to its ports on the Azov Sea.

The Crimean Bridge opens amid the developing tensions between Russian and Ukrainian coastguards in the Black and Azov seas. MORE ABOUT THIS HERE

Great job!

Rob

Well done Russia. Don’t give chance to US, UK and Israeli gang to threaten Russian sea and let Ukrainian regime to die for US, UK and Israeli gang.

Nigel Maund

The Ukrainian Government is a pathetic, corrupt mob of Nazi criminals put in power by the CIA. Let them eat their own excrement as they are a loathsome and dispicable Government not worthy of any support or media attention. The building of the bridge to Crimea is another Russian triumph and somethng that the Ukrainians would never have done as they’re incapable of doing it even if this totally bankrupt State had the money which it’s never likely to have unless Russia takes it over and runs it.

FlorianGeyer

The oligarchs of Ukraine have plundered more that the bridge cost for personal greed and making war.

This is the depravity of the Western oriented nations today and the results are decaying infrastructure and increased costs of privatised utilities that were owned by the nation and sold to create a windfall of cash that has been wasted on wars and cronyism.

Blas de Lezo

Zionist puppets must be having a nerdvous breakdown.

Floyd Hazzard

Lol…one was the main contractor. Putin loves and secures them even to the detriment of allies.

I am no expert but the cost of $3.7 billion does not seem that
expensive for such a big project. In fact value for money. Also 27
months looks good going . Any Civil Engineers with some knowledge care
to comment?

King Tudor777

I’m not a engineer, but here in Brazil we have the Rio-Niterói (Presidente Costa e Silva) Bridge, it was built between January, 1969 and March 1974 by the military regime we had at that time. It’s 13,3 km long and it cost 5 billion R$ (BRL/Reais do Brasil) in actual values. It’s more or less 1,378 billion dollars in actual costs.

paul ( original )

If the R$5 billion was in 1970 prices then allowing for inflation the cost of this bridge seems quite good.

Java Ape Timelord

I was a civil engineer, but in hydraulics, and the cost seems about right.

King Tudor777

No my friend, R$ 5 billion is the cost in current prices. At that time, Brazil used another currency, the Cruzeiro (CR$)

Ivanus59

Well, if they were laundering money off on it then the cost would be much higher. Here in Serbia our government would build something 20 times smaller then this bridge but it would still cost half the cost of this bridge cause they’d use the project to laundry money.

ナイトストーカー

same in romania… we pay for 1 km of highway what they pay in a normal country for 100 km of highway .. no jk…

FlorianGeyer

The cost of one US or British aircraft carrier I think .

Protection of this bridge is now paramount of course.

It is an achievement that displays great Russian engineering prowess.

Java Ape Timelord

And project management.

Do not forget that there was an impact on the construction as they found, where they had been excavating, numerous artifacts which had to be removed and protected.

Tudor Miron

All (protection) is in place before the bridge was open.

FlorianGeyer

I am pleased to hear that as Ukranians are not good helmsmen :)

Dr. Pro Liv

$3.7 billion is by far under the cost of any U.S. carrier recently built..
I don’t know about the price of these 2 UK recently built bath tubs…

FlorianGeyer

This demonstrates how every day Americans would improve if the US Elite was not creating pointless wars around the globe.

America needs to Build Bridges with the world and to stop blowing them all up.

Dr. Pro Liv

Pentagon has admitted of “losing” $21 TRILLION which equals total US public debt.
They do not know where and how they have “lost” that money

FlorianGeyer

I guess its all in Jewish owned banks now :)

Turbofan

I am not Civil but Electrical and have worked on a few projects. Could have easily been higher. You see the inflate cost of most projects have nothing to do with the project itself.Especially in the west a lot of money is wasted on useless consultancy and poor coordination among contractors. Add corruption to that and the cost of any project can easily be 3 to 4 times what it actually should be.

Redadmiral

You left out the inordinate “profit factor”, or maybe that is included in “corruption costs”.

Marko

” Also 27 months looks good going…”

Yes , very good I’d say. In the US , you’d be lucky to get the permits to start construction in 27 months..

paul ( original )

A point that interest me is that the project does not seem to have been
bothered by any legal niceties involving the legality putting this
bridge over a bit of the Black Sea. Putin just went ahead and did it.
Decisive action. Does any one have any insight into the legalities
involved here?

EmilyEnso

As nobody gives a hoot about the legality of the USA occupation of part of Syria – I suggest the legality of a bridge is hardly going to matter one way or another…..
Saying that – I fail to see your argument.
Crimea is part of Russia and has now been joined by road and rail to the rest of Russia.
End of.

paul ( original )

It’s not an argument it’s a question. I was hoping that someone with knowledge, rather than just an opinion, might have something to offer by way of response.

FlorianGeyer

The Western ‘Jewdiciary’ always have opinions that differ according to the plaintiff.

paul ( original )

Agreed. What I was hopping for was some technical understanding. You see people did not internalize my sentence ‘ Decisive action’. My curiosity was to try to understand how much Putin was prepared to take decisive action independent of the legalities, but I do not know what these are in this circumstances. This is why I tried to ask a simple question.
You see Putin is sometimes criticized for not being sufficiently confronting,so here I was trying to assess to what extent this might be a counter example.
I think I will give up on this particular quest.

FlorianGeyer

The greatest problem that the US Coalition have is that they believe fast and furious wars will always prevail. The US has a short attention span though and they are still in Afghanistan 16 years after ‘defeating ‘ the Taliban :)

International laws mean little to the US or Israel.
Russia abides by such laws and it is this that generates trust, even with Russia’s foes.

Putin hits when it hurts his opponents . The verbal insults from Western idiots go over his head as they matter as much as a lunatic shouting at people in the street.

Who takes any notice of Boris Johnson now :)

paul ( original )

Yes that’s the way I would see it as well. I would go a little further and say the USA thinks it is the law. Russia does abide by international law as you say but is always accused of not doing so.

FlorianGeyer

The US has got used to creating a path to reality with weak nations.

All the low hanging fruit has been gobbled up by the US now and the US has become too degenerate to succeed in plundering Russia and China . Which is why many nations seek cooperation with Russia and China.

Promitheas Apollonious

what legalities the ones attempted to be imposed, over the world, by the globalists? Legal status exist when is kept by all. If it is one way, then nothing as is reality today exist, unless you have the power to imposed it yourself.

paul ( original )

No I was not thinking of those. I was just hoping that may be some one
had some knowledge of the law as it relates to the building of
bridges between non contiguous parts of a country. For example both
Northern Ireland and England are part of Britain but they are
separated by the Irish sea, could a bridge just be built between them? I don’t know.
May be there are no laws governing such things. My
hope was some one who had a bit of knowledge might give some
information. Probably I hopped for too much.

Julian Clegg

They are Russian territorial waters, not international waters (the open sea), so it is Russia’s internal affair.

paul ( original )

Your two posts are helpful. Particularly the articles you directed me to. The diagram was clear. I was unsure as to the impact of the fact that part of the See of Azov has a Ukrainian coastline. But there does not seem to be any impact beyond access.

Julian Clegg

You may find some answers if you read this long article: Ukraine v. Russia: Passage through Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov | Völkerrechtsblog http://voelkerrechtsblog.org/ukraine-v-russia-passage-through-kerch-strait-and-the-sea-of-azov/

Dr. Pro Liv

Connecting Russian territory to Russia…what “legalities involved”?!?

paul ( original )

Well if you look at some links provided by some of the other respondents you will see that there are legal questions. The thing is may be a hundred years ago there were no rules at all but now I suspect there are ‘rules’ covering all manner of actives, it is just that the layman is not cognisant of them. This was the reason for my question, to seek information. This some provided while other just gave me their opinions.

Dr. Pro Liv

You talk in enigmas. Which is empty talk on practical subject.
Building bridge of Russian territory and in Russian territorial waters can be susceptible only to Russian laws.
Everything was done in respect of Russian laws.
So you are still not specific.

Serious

The jewish friend of Putin, Arkady Rotenberg, got the contract. Isn’t that funny that the globalists always get richer and benefit from crisis ???? XD.

Serious

When you play both side in a two sided game, you always win.

Serious

Who get the contract for Trump wall ?

Jacek Wolski

Maybe the Chinese? They are experts in building the Chinese Wall! But the wall did not manage to keep the Mongols out ?

CDurrr

Most likely an Israeli company will build the wall (if it ever gets built). Israel has the experience.

matt

it was actualy built to keep the chinese slaves IN

Jacek Wolski

Um…. my Chinese computer says no ?

You can call me Al

It is opening NOW…….. LIve – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvDGPXJOtRk

Tudor Miron

I wonder if Donald would even be able to handle that track :) Putin leading the track convoy (those that were building that bridge) behind the wheel – that’s another example of conceptual governing (governing via images/prediction). Putin knows his hockey.

You can call me Al

It took me an hour or so, to get over Putin driving, as you say, “I wonder if Donald would even be able to handle that track” ….hahahaha.

Wait for trump to go full NASCAR or some other BS in retaliation.

Hahahahahaha.

BMWA1

Most is bridge in CZ, from trucks (Most-otrad), it is same in Russian?

testera

Also in other Slavic languages.

BMWA1

Those handy Slavs :)

Tudor Miron

Most means bridge in Russian as well.

Samantha Green

He didn’t drive well though. Putin repeatedly drifted out of his lane and crowded the truck to his right into the breakdown lane. Wish he did better but his driving really was not impressive.

MichaelE

I’m from Berlin and compare this to the German Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. After almost 15 years of planning construction began in 2006. Originally planned to open in October 2011, the new opening date should be 2020-2021. By 2009 the construction cost was budgeted at €2.83 billion, meanwhile estimated at €10 billion (about $12 billion). And this airport is built on solid ground, not into the sea like the Crimean Bridge! Congrats to Russia!

russ

“According to initial estimates the bridge had been expected to be fully
constructed by the end of 2018 but has been completed six months ahead
of the schedule.”… ahead of schedule happens all the time here in America… ahead of schedule here means anything faster than 50% late…

Bulgarian God

Crimea is not Russia, fucking russkie communists !

AJ

Crimea was part of Russia for over 200 years – what claim does Ukraine have to it other than Khrushchev handing it over to them in the 1950s when it was still part of Soviet Union. The people voted to rejoin Russia so its settled now.

Bulgarian God

No, it’s wrong! In 1994 Russia signed treaty with Ukraine recognizing Crimea as ukrainian land, so end of story! Russia will give back Crimea to mother Ukraine !

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Go and complain to your US masters and lick their arse. Lick, lick, lick!!!

Bulgarian God

Bulgaria is independent sovereign country and don’t have masters, armenian-british shit!

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Rubbish! Bulgaria has become US/EU/NATO slave state. At least my UK is PRIME poodle of the US, its FIRST slave. Where is Bulgaria? Worthy only to be US/EU/NATO excretory products. When will Bulgaria be free again? It then might be worth a visit!

Bulgarian God

Bulgaria is fully free, you stupid armeno-monkey licking russian communist asses! :)

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Bulgaria is as free as a slave. Once a slave, always a slave. Just like the once imperial UK that is now a proud US slave and my birth country of India, which has been enslaved for centuries and now some US stooges in India wish to make India a proper and formal US slave.
Sadly, Bulgaria became a fundamentally corrupt and enslaved country by joining the NATO gang which is directed against the very state that liberated Bulgaria from Ottoman slavery: Russia.
I know this is very painful news for you, but this is the sad reality of Bulgaria, a pretend country that is a first class slave state.
So, just enjoy the US/EU/NATO ass licking: lick, lick, lick!!!

Bulgarian God

all russians are slaves you stupid !

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Aah, what happened to Bulgaria in WW2?
Sadly, Bulgarians are licking US arse today and are finding out that only the smelly brown stuff are falling on their faces. Just like my own UK and even India.

Bulgarian God

Bulgaria enlarged their territory after WW2, you stinky monkey. Before the war – 102 000km2, after the war – 111 000km2 ! So shut the fuck up

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

That was courtesy of the Soviet Union, or do you think that was the gift of your new masters, the US(lick, lick, lick!!!)?
Bulgaria was part of the axis alliance with Nazi Germany, did you know that?
Truly disgusting ignorance!

Bulgarian God

Shut up armenian gypsi ! You know NOTHING of history.

Bulgarian God

And say thanks to Bulgaria when we saved your armenian asses in WW1, when the turks slaughtered you like chickens ! Many armenians came as refugees in Bulgaria and thanked us !

matt

it is now once again….

Sinbad2

Churchill and Roosevelt thought Crimea was part of Russia, so who cares what the scared of Joe Biden Bulgarians think?

goingbrokes

Not a Bulgarian in a million years. One of the hasbara tactics of today is to adopt a faux nationality and make incredibly stupid and provocative comments on blogs. Somebody responds with abuse on that nationality and people start leaving the blogs. Particularly those of the “shared” faux nationality. It’s a trick to create chaos and irrational responses. One thing is certain, almost everyone of a “declared” nationality is a globalist/zionist. And a scumbag to boot.

Sinbad2

Good tip thanks.

Bulgarian God

Khruschev said that Crimea is Ukraine, so don’t eat shits! End of story! And in 1994 Russia signed treaty with Ukraine and recognize Crimea as ukrainian land !

Mike

Hey Bulgarian idiots, your existens as a country is thanks to Russia from the war of 1877, yet you idiots show your gratitude, by siding with their enemies in WW1 and WW2. Then joining NATO in the 90’s, you Bulgar’s are ungrateful, two faced, duplicitous whores, you Bulgarians are really Slavic speaking christian impersonating Turks and as such the Russians should not have lifted a finger to help you back in 1877. You where not worth the blood and treasure.

Bulgarian God

Fuck your mom uneducated idiot! Bulgarians are iranic+thracian ancestry, not turkic, you stupid shit… We gave a cyrillic alphabet to the fucking russians and other degenerated slavs! In WW1 Russia supported Serbia,Greece and Romania, which stealed bulgarian lands in 1913 (the balkan war), so we couldn’t be allies! In WW2 when Bulgaria joined in march 1941, then Germany and Russia (USSR) were ALLIES according Ribentrop-Molotov pact! So don’t eat shits and write lies…!

CDurrr

“larger ships will be unable to get through to its ports on the Azov Sea” another way of saying that American carriers will be unable to go in the Azov Sea

matt

impressive

Justin

i like Putin but he is a terrible driver! Did u see him almost run the other truck into the barrier wall? Absolutely terrible driving!

Dr. Pro Liv

I’m worried for all NATO ships….how they are all pass by underneath that bridge when visiting their Ukraine “brothers”….
Maybe they will sink them first and drug them over to the Ukraine port.

yorg

Russia builds bridges , the USA builds walls.
